Frontline workers during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic are to be recognised for all their hard work by Teeling, an Irish whiskey producer.
A special release of a limited edition expression, called The Front Lines Heroes, is available to buy from the Celtic Whiskey Shop, with all proceeds going to charities that support frontline workers. This includes carers in the community looking after the vulnerable, and those working in the hospitals on the direct frontline.
The whiskey has been matured in virgin Irish oak casks, a first for Teeling distillery, and is limited to only 300 bottles. The bottles were each hand-filled, with specially designed labels stating the initiative along with an individual collector’s number. With an ABV of 48.5% The Front Lines Heroes’ tasting notes describe a “unique, rich, cream and honey” flavour. Perfect for enjoying with your favourite engraved crystal whisky glass, the recommended retail price is €75.
Jack Teeling, managing director and founder of the brewer, explains:
“We are truly thankful for the sacrifices people are making on a daily basis and this release is just a small gesture of our appreciation for these true frontline heroes.”
The Front Lines Heroes expression follows other Teeling whiskeys that have been matured in a variety of wooden cask types. These include Hungarian virgin oak, chestnut casks and American chinquapin white oak casks. The Irish oak expression was chosen to reflect and reinforce the national strength of character and deep-rooted sense of togetherness, as workers across the country unite to tackle the crisis.
