Drinks industry celebrates Jubilee

As the British public prepared to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee over the past weekend, a number of innovative, limited-edition drinks were released by those in the industry in order to commemorate Her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne.

Creator of honey-infused spirits KEEPR produced 840 – the number of months that Queen Elizabeth has reigned – limited-edition bottles of its signature London Dry Gin with honey from bees kept in Windsor Great Park. The purple bottle had the official Jubilee emblem, which showed a crown and the number 70, and signified a royal seal. Serving a drink like this in an engraved gin glass can add even more class to an occasion.

Sparkling wine producer Nyetimber also released a special edition bottle in time for the celebrations. The company’s classic Cuvee MV could be purchased in a bottle that had seven crowns on it, representing each decade that the Queen has reigned. The bottle also included a Jubilee ribbon.

A Platinum Jubilee Negroni recipe was released by Campari in recognition of this special occasion. The recipe included the classic combination of gin and Compari, but instead of vermouth, a twist of Dubonnet was added, which is rumoured to be a favourite of Her Majesty’s.

Harveys sherry released a special edition of its Bristol Cream in a commemorative bottle. The company claims to be the only sherry brand based in Spain to have received a Royal Warrant from the British Royal Household.

With an extended bank holiday, people have had more time to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee with these limited-edition beverages.
