The UK is rapidly becoming a country of gin-lovers, according to recent reports. Statistics published by the Wine and Spirit Trade Association (WTSA) confirm that sales of gin in restaurants, pubs and shops across the UK have increased by more than 20% in the last twelve months alone.
Furthermore, the huge increase in British gin exports has caused overall sales to double since 2013.
Figures released by the Office for National Statistics prove that Brits are certainly not shy in splashing the cash when it comes to indulging their new found fad. In 2017, gin sales soared, with gin-lovers spending a staggering £461 million on the spirit, almost tripling the value of sales back in 2009.
The WTSA’s CEO, Miles Beale, isn’t expecting the spirit’s increased popularity to wane anytime soon. He stated that:
“…consumers are increasingly interested in the locality, provenance and authenticity of what they are drinking.”
This recent craze is certainly helping to boost many industries. The number of distilleries in the UK has more than doubled in the past five years, according to the WTSA, whilst gin sales now comprise a huge 68% of the spirit sector’s value growth.
Moreover, this increase in gin sales logically leads to a correlative rise in the demand for gin glasses. Why not treat a loved one (or yourself!) to a beautifully engraved gin glass? Manufactured to the highest quality and carefully engraved to add that special touch, gin never tasted better!
