With current restraints on social activity, including visits to pubs, bars and restaurants, it would appear drinkers are becoming more adventurous as they respond to the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.

Online searches in the UK for the best cocktail recipes have increased by around 9,800 since the beginning of March alone. Here are the top five most popular Google searches for cocktails to give you inspiration to recreate your favourite drinks from home.

Margarita

In fifth place is the Margarita with 34,000 searches. A favourite Tequila-based drink, blended with Triple Sec, lime and sugar. Figures show that the Dorset town of Poole has recorded the most UK searches, making it the town’s firm favourite.

Negroni

The Negroni comes in fourth place, and figures show it is the favourite cocktail of Cambridge, Bath, London, Edinburgh, Oxford and Manchester drinkers. The vermouth, gin and Campari cocktail clocked up 35,000 searches.

Espresso Martini

With 38,000 Google searches, the Espresso Martini takes third place. A coffee-based classic made with fresh espresso, vodka, coffee liqueur and sugar syrup. Drinkers in 23 UK cities chose to give this cocktail a big thumbs up and make it their number one search.

Piña Colada

The delicious combination of rum, coconut cream and pineapple made this tropical classic a firm favourite in 13 cities. The second placed Piña Colada was searched over 39,000 times.

Mojito

Over 43,000 searches places the Mojito as the UK number one, and the favourite thirst-quenching serve for drinkers in Birmingham, Nottingham and Leicester. The Mojito allows drinkers to enjoy the perfect blend of rum, lime, mint, soda and sugar.
