Nominations now open for Lovie Awards 2021Mark
The internet explosion of the past decade now offers us so much more than any other information or entertainment medium, so it’s no surprise that the digital industry celebrates its achievements with a completely unique and original award ceremony, along with a unique way of presenting its statuettes.
Spanning everything from broadcasts from the BBC and individual YouTubers to inspirational apps such as Be My Eyes, the Lovie Awards present around 340 statuettes to deserving winners in categories that include Creator for Change, Emerging Entrepreneur and Outstanding Comedic Performance.
The bronze, silver and gold statuettes feature a pixelated heart-shaped tower cast from molten metal, and they are laser engraved with the winner’s name, category and personal message. Winners are chosen by a judging panel made up of members from the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences.
What differentiates the Lovies from other award ceremonies is that the statuettes are not presented on the night. Even before the current pandemic restrictions, they were presented after the ceremony. This gives the recipients time to choose any personal inscriptions they may want to include on their engraved awards, as well as the option to order extra statuettes, as many of the category winners are teams, rather than individuals.
Nominations for the 2021 Lovie Awards close on 23rd April, with several new categories added this year. All the nominations will be announced in September and the winners will be revealed in October, which will then be followed by a virtual celebration in November.
