New Doctor Who logo sparks debate among fans

Doctor Who, a TV series that has been on the air in some form for almost 60 years, has revealed its new logo for its anniversary and the upcoming 2023 episodes and it has sparked a debate among fans both old and new.

The new logo, that is expected now to appear on promotional items such as t-shirts, toys, gifts, and for the hardcore fans, engraved glass gifts, is among discussion across social media due to it not being almost entirely new.

Die-hard Doctor Who fans will recognise the new logo as a more modern and high-quality version of the old logo featured in episodes during John Pertwee and Tom Baker’s days as the Doctor during the 70s and 80s. It is recognisable as the classic logo which was featured on books and in videos up until the 1990s, but has some updated differences such as slimmer text.

Fans of the classic episodes are excited and recognise it as a nod to the old Doctor Who branding, but some fans believe it is not a very creative design choice.

Other fans believe that the logo has been influenced by Disney, as it has also been revealed that Disney Plus will now air all episodes next year as well as the BBC.

Despite the divided opinions, most fans are looking forward to seeing old faces and new in the anniversary special episodes next year, as well as the ‘new’ logo in the opening credits.
