Doghouse Distillery, an independent London-based company, have created the world’s first chilli bacon-flavoured vodka.
In 2018, Doghouse Distillery launched the first vodka that was entirely created in London, called Baller vodka. Using this wheat-based vodka, it has then combined Habanero chillies grown in Mexico with a secret ingredient to create its new flavour. The secret ingredient gives the vodka a bacon-like sweet smokiness.
Doghouse has said that its new Baller ‘Chilli Bacon’ Vodka has a powerful flavour that has hints of bacon, a warm spiciness and the smooth texture of its Baller drink.
The chilli bacon-flavoured spirit is available in 70cl and 5cl bottles both online and at some wholesalers and retailers. The distillery has commented that it wanted to introduce a new and exciting product to the market with its new vodka. As well as a new experience for consumers, it wanted to give the hospitality industry a new option for serving cocktails such as the Bloody Mary.
A Bloody Mary is a vodka-based cocktail made with tomato juice, lemon juice and usually Worcestershire sauce and tabasco. The ingredients are mixed with ice in a jug with a pinch of celery salt and pepper. It is served in a tall glass – engraved highball glasses would add even more class to this drink – with a celery stick and lemon slice.
This new vodka can be used to add something new to a Bloody Mary cocktail, or it can simply be served over ice with a dry ginger ale for a warming, refreshing drink.
