Engraved champagne flutes make special gifts for loved ones

Champagne is a luxury drink that is associated with special occasions, so giving engraved champagne flutes to a loved one makes them feel extra special.

The appeal of champagne

Napoleon Bonaparte is quoted as saying:

“In victory we deserve champagne, in defeat we need it.”

Madame de Pompadour, mistress of Louis XV of France, once said:

“Champagne is the only drink that leaves a woman still beautiful after drinking it.”

Fashion designer Coco Chanel is quoted as having said:

“I only drink champagne on two occasions – when I am in love and when I am not.”

Winston Churchill enjoyed the drink so much that the champagne house Pol Roger named a vintage after him.

Champagne may have been associated with the rich and famous, but today, it’s not an elitist’s drink, nor necessarily an expensive one. Anyone over the age of 18 can buy a bottle of non-vintage champagne for around £12 from a supermarket.

Champagne glasses

A painting called Le Déjeuner d’Huîtres, painted in 1734 by Jean-François de Troy, was hung in Louis XV’s private dining room. It depicted a post-hunt lunch where guests drink from champagne coupe glasses, which are round bowls on stems. Until the 1970s, coupe-like glasses were the standard way to drink champagne.

Though the first flute glasses were made in the 18th Century, it was not until the 1970s they replaced the coupe glass as the favourite vessel from which to drink champagne. Still, the coupe-style glass did not go away and can still be purchased, and is even preferred by some champagne lovers.

Engraved glasses are special

Although champagne is affordable by most people, at least on special occasions, it is still regarded as a luxury drink. This is why people like to drink champagne from good quality glasses. Engraved champagne flutes are extra special, particularly if they are made from premium crystal glass. The narrow top of the flute concentrates the aroma of the champagne. The narrow shape of the glass is said to prevent gas from the bubbles escaping quickly. This keeps the champagne fizzier for longer.

If you struggle to find an exceptional gift for a family member or a close friend, engraved glass gifts are ideal as they are quality items that become unique when engraved. Whenever a loved one drinks champagne from an engraved glass, they think of the person who gave it and what they mean to them.

Most engraved champagne flutes come in presentation gift boxes that people are delighted to receive. The engraving can be any message you like. It can mark a special occasion or simply express gratitude to someone who has helped you. Engraved champagne flutes are personalised gifts that show that you have taken extra care to find a special gift.

Give engraved champagne flutes with a bottle of vintage champagne, so that a toast can be made with the new glasses. Of course, engraved champagne flutes can be used for other fizzy wines or sparkling grape and apple juice for non-drinkers.
